Rydal Mount
Situated just out of Ambleside, an extended old farm house rented and occupied by William Wordsworth and family from 1813-1850, the last years of his life.  It contains some of his furniture and belongings, with pleasant gardens and a lake view.
Open March - October 09:30 - 17:00.

Townend (Troutbeck)
A yeoman farmers house dating back to 1626 now in the care of the National Trust.
Open late March till the end of October (Tuesday to Friday - 13:00 - 17:00)
